Why Highveld homes leak
Pretoria sits on the Highveld, where rain arrives as intense summer thunderstorms between roughly October and March, often with hail, and then stops almost entirely for the dry winter. A roof can look fine for months and then leak heavily in a single storm when a blocked outlet or a hairline crack is overwhelmed by a sudden downpour.
The same climate is hard on waterproofing: strong year-round UV bakes exposed membranes and coatings, and the big day-to-night temperature swing makes roofs expand and contract, working at laps, parapets and flashings. Systems used here have to tolerate that movement and UV, which is why we assess the specific roof before recommending one.
