Corrugated Steel Water Tanks
Corrugated galvanised steel water tanks from 11 kL to 500 kL+, supplied with PVC lining. Built for farms, game reserves, mines and rural water storage.
When an earth dam is not practical — limited space, rocky ground, or the need for elevated storage — corrugated galvanised steel reservoirs give South African farmers and site managers a fast, scalable way to store borehole, municipal or harvested rainwater. Damtech supplies tanks from roughly 11 kL to 500 kL and above, with PVC lining, structural columns and optional roofs as standard on our builds.
We specialise in delivering high-quality, durable water storage solutions tailored to your needs. Our tanks are crafted from 0.8 mm thick corrugated hot dip galvanised steel sheets, available from 3 m to 17 m in diameter. Each tank includes a standard 850 gsm PVC lining, bidem floor sheet, sturdy upright columns, and an optional roof for additional protection.

Why Choose Corrugated Steel Water Tanks
Hot-dip galvanised steel panels handle harsh sun, hail and wind better than many plastic alternatives, and modular construction means tanks can be installed on sites where pouring concrete is slow or uneconomical. Ring heights of 1.55 m, 2.3 m and 3.05 m let you match footprint to available space — useful on dairy farms, packhouses, mines and game lodges where a tall narrow tank fits behind a shed or against a slope.
Compared to open earth dams, a lined steel reservoir cuts evaporation losses when roofed, keeps water cleaner for irrigation systems, and can be relocated or expanded as your operation grows.
Typical Applications in Agriculture and Industry
Clients use our tanks for livestock and game watering, irrigation buffer storage ahead of pivots and drip lines, firefighting reserves on remote farms, and process or dust-suppression water at mines and quarries. Borehole water is often pumped during off-peak hours into a tank so irrigation can run when Eskom load-shedding would otherwise stop the pump.
Steel reservoirs also work as balancing tanks in combined borehole-and-dam systems described in our blog guides on farm water management.

Linings, Roofs and Standard Fittings
Each tank includes an 850 gsm PVC liner and bidem floor sheet suited to potable and agricultural water storage. Standard fittings include 50 mm inlet and outlet connections and overflow. Upright columns support ring loads; optional roofs reduce evaporation, debris ingress and algae growth — worthwhile in hot, dusty regions.
Where water chemistry or abrasion demands it, we can discuss alternative liner weights or coordinate with our HDPE team for linked earth-dam storage on the same property.
Site Preparation and Installation
A level, compacted base — typically sand or crusher dust on geotextile — is essential so the tank does not settle unevenly and stress the liner. We advise on diameter, height and position relative to pumps and pipe routes before manufacture. Most standard installations are completed within a few days once the base is ready, though lead times apply for fabrication and delivery to remote sites.
We work with your contractor or our partners on civils where needed, and we remain available for liner inspections and maintenance after commissioning.
